Broken Window - Weekly Excitement

Some shots of the excitement taken with my old Fuji pocket point and shoot camera.

Picture of the lower bent frame of the upper window panel through the intact lower window panel where the force of the impact pushed it down about 6 inches from it's closed position.

Picture of the top of the lower window panel where the object took a chunk out of it after going through the glass of the upper window panel.

The window panels after the maintenance guy took them off the frame to prevent the glass from falling on any by passers.

Seems the rain shower last night came with more excitement than usual. Found out this morning something had smashed through an upper window panel.

From the look of the bent upper frame panel, the way it was lowered from the upper closed position by about 6 inches from the impact and the chunk it took out of the top edge of the lower frame panel, it was pretty heavy object. I would guess that something that heavy I should not have been a wind bourne object, especially 6 stories up.

At a guess, based on the angle of the impact, I would have to say it had to have been an object thrown downward from the taller building across the street or from my roof at a pretty awkward inward angle due to the overhang on my roof. Go figure, why someone would do this.

Took a look a look on the street below, but could not find what the object could have been.
Good thing it happened late at night and there was a bookcase against that window otherwise the damage could have been worst to by passers and to the apartment.

I have my week planned out for me cleaning, moving stuff around and waiting for the various repair / maintenance folk...
