Snow Day - First Good Snow of the Winter Season

The winter season's first good snow in the area, I always like the look sound of that first snow.  Everything is layered in a clean white muffled blanket of white powder.

NYBG - Japanese Autumn Garden

Dropped by the NY Botanical Garden and took a few shots at their Kiku in the Japanese Autumn Garden exhibit.

From what I was told the first Bonsai picture above is of a species of Juniper(?). The streaks of white that look like the plant is dying is actual part of a symbiotic cycle where half the plant blooms while the other half is dormant.

Hoboken, NJ - Moon Festival gathering

Went to a gathering of photography class friends in Hoboken to have a evening meal and watch the moon rise in the park there.

Been a while since I have tried some night shooting, out of practice. Camera sensor was dirty so some shots were messed up, maybe if I am in the mood I will try some Photoshop cleanups.

This is the one panorama I managed to take that was salvagable :)

P.S.: Sigh!, this is the night I lost my 100mm macro lens :(

South Ferry Area - US Coast Guard patrol

Wandering around town doing the tourist thing with some buddies from the old days and got a shot of a Coast Guard patrol down by South Ferry.

I heard from one of my friends that the increased security was due to a meeting of the United Nations that day.

Bronx Botanical Garden - spur of the moment

Forecasts of a rainy Saturday were only partially right, took a spur of the moment walk at the Bronx Botanical Gardens. Always enjoyed the more arid climate plants and the rock garden.
Too bad I only had my walkabout lens, I did not get the forewarning to pack a macro lens before I found out we were heading out to the gardens.

Caumsett State Historic Park - a walk

Took a walk at the park, kind of hard to describe without sounding cliche, but what the hey :). The views along the quiet foggy shore was one of surreal timelessness.

Dance Competition - NY Sheraton

Went with a friend to see her god-kids in a dance competition. The event was fun and a good chance to see future talents at work on stage.
Shots were taken under existing low stage lighting conditions as flashes were not allowed.
