Metropolitan Museum of Art - a visit

A close up of figure work from over a fireplace mantle.

A close up of porcelain figurine work from a glass display.

A close up of some delicate silver work from a glass display.

A decorative statue from a replicated gaming room display.

Took a walk to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with some friends to check out a photography exhibit. It has been a while since I have been there.
It was quite crowded but we took the time to check out the "Love and Art in Renaissance
Italy", Art Exhibit and the "New York, N. Why?", Photography Exhibit. Since photography was not allowed in the actual exhibits, I took some random display shots.
After wards we had dinner at a french bistro and dropped by P&G bar for a last visit to an old time favorite watering hole. We heard they are
relocating from their landmark location.

Rockefeller Center area - window displays

Took a holiday walk around Rockefeller Center to take a look at the window displays. Not really a crowd person and it helps in navigating the crowds if you do not need to do any actual holiday shopping :)
All the window display shots were taken with my old point and shoot through glass.

Bronx Botanical Garden - a walk

Took a walk for a few pictures at the Bronx Botanical Garden. It was a cold crisp day and gave the opportunity to walk off some of the extra food and leftovers from Thanksgiving. Amazing how all the holidays and preparations always seem to flow into each other during this time of year.

Halloween Parade - NYC Village

Always wanted to attend the Village Halloween Parade and this year I heard on the news that they lost half their sponsorship due to the bad economy.

I was finishing up with my call to jury duty, so when a friend asked if I wanted to go and take some pictures, it sounded like a good opportunity and a fun way to take a break.

The event was really jam packed along the parade route. I was pasted against the metal guard rail and people were lined up about 7-10 deep behind where I was so all the snapshots are of whatever passed within range of the spot I was wedged into. Just kept taking pictures til I ran the batteries out on my external flash unit. :)
